Render the Parmigiano Reggiano Experience with KeyShot

We’re excited to join Parmigiano Reggiano, along with Kartell and Alessi for the 2022 Parmigiano Reggiano Design Challenge.

You're invited as a professional designer or design student to submit concepts for products that can transform the process of cooking and consuming food into delightful, surprising and enriching experiences.

With the competition all about the magic that happens at the intersection of design and food, there are two talented chefs who will create dishes to serve as inspiration for the entries. The challenge runs until Friday, May 6th, 2022 and it's absolutely free to enter!

Inspiration

This year’s competition includes inspiration in the form of dishes prepared by renowned Chef Michel Nischan, the recipient of four James Beard Awards, and by Chef Michele Casadei Massari, the US Brand Ambassador for Parmigiano Reggiano and Executive Chef at his popular restaurant, Lucciola, in New York.

Evaluation

The evaluation of the entries will include how well the product concepts embody key ideas that were built into the recipes and are considered important differentiating values for the Parmigiano Reggiano brand: Biodiversity, Zero-Waste, and Maturation.

How To Enter

Two talented chefs have created masterful dishes to serve as inspiration for your entry. The recipes feature Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and were selected because they embody some of the qualities that contribute to Parmigiano Reggiano’s reputation as a true Italian Masterpiece.

Jury

The jury is made up of the brightest stars in the design industry, including Mauro Porcini, the Chief Design Officer for PepsiCo, world famous designers Karim Rashid and Fabio Novembre, respected restaurant designer Alessia Genova from Tihany Design, and the head of the Michael Graves Design office, Donald Strum. The jury also includes the winner of last year’s Best of Show Award, designer Qing Yan. This year Chef Michele Casadei Massari and Chef Michel Nischan will also join the design industry judges and contribute a culinary perspective to the judging process.

The Awards

The winning entries will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze awards and a KeyShot subscription along with visibility and media recognition. The Best of Show winner will win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy for two, complete with private tours of the Kartell and Alessi design museums, a VIP visit to a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese making facility, and a full KeyShot Pro + KeyShot Web Subscription.

Wholesome Wave

This year the competition also includes a charity component. For each entry received, the Design Challenge sponsors will donate funds to Wholesome Wave, a non-profit organization committed to addressing nutrition insecurity in US communities that are also affected by racial-, ethnic- and income-based inequities.
